Plain versions of the things that actually matter: what you are buying, what it does not promise, and how to get your money back.

Who you are buying from

Hopnotch is made and sold by Kok Yi Huai, an individual trading as theMACadamia, based in Singapore. There is no company behind the name: when you buy Hopnotch your agreement is with me personally. The same name appears in the app's Apple code signature, which macOS shows you the first time you open it.

Everything reaches me at support@themacadamia.com. Using the app or buying a licence means you accept what is on this page.

What you are buying

A licence to use Hopnotch, not the software itself. I keep ownership of the app and its code. Your licence is personal, non-exclusive and cannot be transferred or resold.

Plan	What it gives you
Trial	The whole app, every theme, for three days. No account and no card. It stops working afterwards.
Lifetime	Every future version of Hopnotch, on up to three Macs, with nothing to renew.
Monthly	The same app on the same three Macs, for as long as the subscription is active.

Three Macs means three at a time, and they do not have to be yours. Move a licence by deactivating it in Settings, which frees the slot as soon as the store confirms it. If the store cannot be reached, Hopnotch tells you so rather than pretending the slot is free; email me and I will release it by hand. Please do not share your key publicly or resell it; that is the one thing that costs me a sale rather than a slot.

"Lifetime" means the lifetime of the product, not a promise that I will be developing it forever. If Hopnotch is ever discontinued your licence keeps working on the last version released.

Paying, and getting your money back

Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record. They take the payment, hold the card details, issue your key and handle sales tax, under their own terms. Prices on this site include tax, so the amount you see is the amount you pay.

Fourteen days to change your mind. Email me within fourteen days of buying and I refund it, without argument and without asking you to justify it. Your licence stops working once the refund goes through.

A subscription can be cancelled at any time, by you, without asking me first:

Open app.lemonsqueezy.com/my-orders, or use the "manage your subscription" link in your receipt email.
Enter the email address you bought with. Lemon Squeezy emails you a sign-in link, so there is no password to remember.
Open the Hopnotch order and choose Cancel subscription.

The same page is linked from Hopnotch itself, under the License tab in Settings. Cancelling stops the next payment and the app keeps working until the period you have already paid for runs out. I do not pro-rate part months, which is exactly why the trial is three full days. If the portal gives you any trouble, email me and I will cancel it at my end.

Nothing here removes rights you have under Singapore consumer law.

The honest part: this app uses private macOS interfaces

Hopnotch reads and switches Mission Control Spaces, and macOS provides no public way to do either. It therefore relies on undocumented system interfaces. That is also why it cannot be sold on the Mac App Store.

This has a real consequence you should weigh before buying: a future macOS release could break Hopnotch, and Apple is under no obligation to keep these interfaces working. Apps in this category have been broken by macOS updates before, sometimes permanently.

What I will do about it: test against macOS betas as they appear, publish fixes quickly, and tell you plainly in the app when a version of macOS is known to be a problem. What I cannot do is promise it will always work. If that risk is not one you want to take, use the three day trial and keep your money.

What Hopnotch needs to run

An Apple silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later. Live Space previews are optional and ask for Screen Recording permission; everything else works without it. The privacy page covers what previews do with what they capture, which is nothing beyond drawing them on your own screen.

No warranty, and the limit of what I owe you

Hopnotch is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, I make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or fit for a particular purpose, and I do not warrant that it will remain compatible with future versions of macOS.

If something does go wrong, my total liability to you is limited to the amount you actually paid for your licence. I am not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost work, lost data or lost profit. Nothing in this paragraph limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Ending the licence

Your licence ends if you break these terms in a serious way, which means posting your key somewhere public or selling it on. Handing it to your partner, your family or a friend for one of your three Macs is not breaking the terms; it is what the three Macs are for. I will contact you first wherever it is reasonable to do so. You can stop using Hopnotch at any time by uninstalling it, and you can request a refund inside the first fourteen days as described above.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the new version appears on this page with a new date below. Changes are not retroactive: the terms that apply to your purchase are the ones published on the day you bought.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are buying as a consumer somewhere else, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in.

Before anything reaches a court, please just email me. Almost everything is solved by a refund and a short conversation.
